The rocks of the Formation originated from the sediments of a system of floodplains, rivers, small lakes, and dune fields, subject to a very harsh dry season. Despite the hostile environment, many dinosaurs were present; there were no flowering plants, but we find various types of ferns and many other plants, such as numerous conifers, cycads, and horsetails.
