Teropodi carnivori come Allosaurus,
qui ritratto chino sulla preda,
e Ceratosaurus – dalle caratteristiche
creste sul naso e davanti agli occhi,
chiamate rispettivamente
cresta nasale e creste lacrimali –
sono tra i dinosauri predatori più famosi,
entrambi tipici rappresentanti
delle faune nordamericane
del Giurassico Superiore. Per qualche
motivo, all'Allosaurus mancano
le sue caratteristiche creste lacrimali
– simili a quelle del Ceratosaurus.
